The Endangered Members Of The Cat Family; Save Them
81
I am a cat family lover, a huge fan of the family Felidae. But I really feel very sorry to say that most of the members of the cat family are in severe danger of extinction. And the biggest reason for their horrible condition is no doubt, we, humans. They are so beautiful that no one can remove their eyes from those huge beautiful creatures. But their beauty has become their enemy and we have, for our selfishness, killed them in such a large number that now they are going to extinct. But, I am glad that several organizations like WWF (world wildlife fund), AWF (African wildlife foundations) etc. are doing great jobs to protect them from many years. WWF is doing this great job from last 50 years.
Following are the top 10 members of the endangered cat family:
- Amur leopard (with fewer than 35 amur leopard in the wild)
- Iranian Cheetah (50-60, restricted to the main desert areas around Dasht-e-Kavir)
- Margay (64 individuals)
- Ocelot (80-100 in the wild)
- Iriomote cat (fewer than 100 individuals)
- Bengal Tiger (1,411 in India, 200 in Bangladesh, 155 in Nepal and 67–81in Bhutan)
- Snow Leopard (3500-7000)
- Mountain Lion (5000-6000 in the wild)
- Clouded Leopard (about 10,000)
- Jaguar (12000 in the wild)
They all are struggling for their existence. I want them to survive and want to see them in the future too, not only in the zoos but also in the wild.
I am a proud member of WWF. And I want you too to step forward and take part in this noble cause. Together we can make a huge difference.

Whenever you feel that you too want to take part in this cause then join any of the sites of your choice and start participating.
At last I just want to say that “come forward, take part and change the world”. And if even one person will join to this noble cause after reading this then that would be a great achievement for me.

It's sad to see all these animals endangered and to know that there not the only ones endangered.

How beautiful, great hub. My cat is sixteen and amazingly healthy after a really bad bout with an allergy to something she got into she was about three years getting over. I sometimes think she may outlive me.
